Description
The Macrofilter® Demister Mist Eliminator is a high-performance filtration device designed to remove fine liquid droplets from gas or air streams, essential in processes where oil, water, or chemical mists can damage equipment, compromise product quality, or pose health hazards. This unit is also known as a mist eliminator, droplet separator, or demister pad.
Its modular construction allows for easy installation in any housing or equipment. The demister can be manufactured in custom thicknesses, densities, and with accessories such as handles, frames, support grids, or top/bottom screens according to your specific needs.
Operating Principle
The demister works by combining inertial impaction and coalescence. As the mist-laden gas stream passes through multiple layers of knitted wire mesh, fine liquid droplets are intercepted and retained. These droplets coalesce into larger drops that eventually drain by gravity, allowing the clean, dry gas to continue its flow.
Thanks to its optimized design — which includes controlled wire diameter (0.28 mm to 1.05 mm), specific mesh knitting patterns, and corrugated or flat layers — the demister provides a high surface area for maximum separation efficiency.
